Maples Reviews

The reason for our visit to Hunstanton was to scatter my late mothers ashes she missed being 100 by two weeks. Although this was a sad time it was so nice to find somewhere that as a family we could all get together and celebrate her life. The Maples was perfect, The three children loved the games room, and we new that they where safe at the top of the house. the bedrooms and facilities where brilliant. The adults spent most of our time sitting in the kitchendining area chatting and raising a glass or two.
We have just finished our stay at the Maples during the May bank holiday with 8 adults and 2 children. The house is perfectly located as a 5 minute walk to the beach and shops, we didn't have to use our car all weekend. We had a great stay, the house is a good size and loved that all the rooms had their own bathrooms. The rooms have plenty of storage and the beds are comfy. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, plates, mugs etc, we loved the nice touch of including a welcome hamper with tea, coffee, wine and snacks. A couple of negatives are the garden needs some urgent attention, it's a great sun trap but there are weeds everywhere, a table is rotten, the slabs are uneven. I think a little tlc is required for this to match the house. the light bulb in the smaller lounge is broken, I would assume it's been like this for a while, things like this should be checked each time the house is cleaned the downstairs toilet has a tray under the sink due to a leak, that should be fixed ASAP there is a drip in the tap in the Oriental bath tap. While I had some negative comments overall we enjoyed our stay and we would recommend Maples to other families.
Richard
The property was exactly as described with the large kitchen diner very much the heart of the house. All of the bedrooms were comfortable and clean, as were the living rooms. The back garden space could use a little TLC, whilst we were there the weather was very good and we made the most of the space, however, it could do with a spruce up but it didn't detract from the overall experience
Catherine
The 12 of us had a lovely weekend in this nice big house in a great location, close to a friendly cafe and the beach. The house could do with a little bit of maintenance but was comfortable. In Oriental, the hot tap on one of sinks wasnt working and the pool table had 2 balls missing and was very wobbly. In the kitchen, the nonstick pans need replacing and we couldnt get the fan option on the oven to work. But, these are minor things and we had a wonderful time.
Debbie
We had great stay over Christmas with 3 generations of the family enjoying the ability to come together at meal times and play games around the big table. The games room was also a huge hit with the adult kids and younger grandchildren. Location was excellent for beach walks and bedrooms all comfortable. The dog room was perfect for our young puppy. Adult and kids living rooms for opposing TV were also very welcome
Michelle
Maples is ideay located in hunstanton, short walk to the beach,a corner Premier shop. 10mins to the centre with shops pubsand entertainment. The owner quickly responded to our queries, and a couple minor problems sorted very quickly. It was warm comfortable with 6 ensuite rooms ideal for 11 adults . We could all easily cook, then sit and eat together.the 3 dogs loved it .it was our 2nd stay and will stay again
We have just had an amazing family weekend at Maples to celebrate my husbands 80th birthday. Multi generational and with two dogsThe house is so comfortable, well equipped and ideally situated for beach and town. We had an exceptional celebratory meal at Chives restaurant and were given excellent ,friendly service. Definitely would recommend this stunning house, and we all agreed wed would love to return.
We found Maples clean and spacious in a great area, minutes from the beach and amenities. On street parking for our group wasnt a problem. Garden would benefit from some TLC and a previous occupant hadnt cleaned up after their dog. Shower rail in Oriental room was broken reported to owner and agreed it would be fixed when we left to avoid disruption to our holiday. The inside bedroom door handle of the Field room was missing not reported at the time as we managed. Bedrooms werent set up as requested but again we managed and it didnt impact on our holiday. Having said that, Maples is a great holiday property and we wouldnt hesitate to return.
Joanna
The games room made the house perfect for my grandson. Lots of space and rooms to soread out and be on your own if needed. The knives for preparing the food really needed to be sharpened and bins needed better labelling, otherwise it was brilliant.
Lucasta
Maples is a lovely house that worked really well as a base for a large family group of mixed ages. There was loads of space and we particularly liked the large kitchen with a table that meant we could all comfortably eat together. The coffee machine was very popular. The small garden was a real sun trap and our dog had his own room! The house is really well located between Old Hunstanton and the town centre but was very quiet.
The property is great for large groups. Reasonable price. Seaside town with loads of bars &b resaurants. Quiet location with loads of free nearby street parking. All bedrooms good size with ensuites. Lovely clean towels. The property was spotless with one small exception where looks like the previous occupants had dumped 2 unwashed saucepans at the back of the kitchen cupboard which were missed by the cleaners. Only one wire shelf in the oven was a challenge!! Had to spend a couple of quid replacing batteries in TV remote. 4 DW tablets & no rinse aid or salt seemed a bit mean especially as they were all needed. Spent a bit more money sorting that one out too. Ending on a high, the house & garden were perfect & would go back again without hesitation.
The location of the property was ideal for all the activities. We were disappointed with the maintenance of the property and felt it needed t l c and a deep clean in the kitchen and tidy in the outside areas.
Maples was the ideal place to stay for our weekend away. It had everything we needed plenty of kitchen equipment and plenty of space for 11 of us. The noisy plumbing was a downfall but didn't spoil our stay at all.
We had an amazing family weekend celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary, then a relaxing few days to complete the week. The house was very well equipped and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you, Lin

Better e plantation re the recycling bin and other bin day and times The kitchen cupboard door was off 1 hinge we had quick reply from owner we said we could manage and another handle loose Check working radiators in 2 bedrooms again manager replied very quickly The communication was excellent
Carolyn
Lovely big accommodation and we really enjoyed our stay. Close to amenities and the beach. The house was comfortable but could do with a bit of decorating. Some maintenance was required here and there. It did not spoil our enjoyment and we had a great holiday in Hunstanton.
Brenda
We found it generally very clean. Just a few bits of debris left in some bedrooms. This is the second time I have booked the house. Each time for a different group. We had 5 children and a baby this time with mixed ages up to 10years old. They all absolutely loved the space and the games room. Also Maples is in an excellent position for beaches and town. We actually didn't leave the area as there was so much to do and the weather was very kind. It was great for the two dogs as well.
The kettle and dishwasher could do with replacing. There are quite a few uneven floor tiles in the kitchen. A tumble dryer would be an asset, especially as there were only 4 pegs for the washing line! We were a family of 9 plus dogs. Maples gets a rating of 810 from us.
Lovely house, great rooms with good amenities for everyone. It needs a really good dust and a better bannister up to the loft floor but otherwise brilliant. The sofa in the living room on the left as you go through the front door is so low its awful for older people or anyone with a back complaint.
Upstairs single bedroom door could not be opened from inside. Lovely house could do with some minor TLC
Perfect for a large family or friends group to enjoy relaxing together. The large kitchen with very long refractory table helps the group eat, play, discuss and drink together. Convenient for beach walks and the main town attractions.
Great house and great location. Very well equipped with everything for 12 guests. We will definitely be back. Not for publishing but for the owner it does need a good clean there are loads of cobwebs everywhere. The bottom bedroom wall shelves were very very dusty.
Elizabeth
A fabulous house.
Absolutely loved the break, thankyou. However just a few issues, The dishwasher failed to work it showed E15 as problem. Showers running warm and cold, and very slow output of water. Lamp in Oriental room was broken upon arrival. These didn't spoil our experience but feel you need to know. Thankyou for sharing your house with us. Definately rebook for next year.
Sandra
We were welcomed by a wonderful hamper of goodies and a friendly note, and the accommodation was spacious, clean, quiet and very comfortable, offering great facilities. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you.
Situation is ideal and having sufficient bathrooms for everyone is a plus. It took us a while to work out the controls of the range and microwave but we managed in the end.
Michele
Maples is a lovely house. Clean and well equipped. There were only 2 tiny issues that we had, the large ensuite bathroom is freezing even with heating on full blast...maybe some sort of heater could be installed? Also this bathroom has no towel rail or hooks, please put a couple of hooks up! And as we were an older group and there was only 1 walk in shower we all had to climb into a bath and there are no safety handles or even a shower mat so 2 of my party felt very unsafe and had to keep using the shower in the master ensuite. Nothing that couldn't be rectified very easily. Bath mats for a start would be very much appreciated. But as I say very small issues. Overall the house was good, clean and the heating system is so easy to use I was very happy not having to read a load of instructions!
We had a fantastic Holiday at Maples. There was 11 of us four generations age 379. Plenty of space for everyone to relax and have quiet time which was much needed with 3 little boys under 5. Our girls liked having the loft bedroom with their own games room. The stairgates were very useful!. It was a very short walk to the beach and into town. We spent lots of family time in the kitchen cooking, eating and playing games the table was perfect for all the family to sit together. My 79 year old Mum said her bed was so comfy she did not want to leave. We would certainly stay again in the future.
Dee Dee
A wonderfully spacious, really well equipped house. Excellent location. Suited all ages really well. Thank you. Lovely furniture. Just some windows wouldnt open overflow at side of house no drain and peeling wallpaper in one bathroom.
Catherine
We have just had the best holiday at Maples. Three generations family gathering. So much space for getting together in groups of various sizes or altogether as we wanted to. The house is so well equipped with the bedroom sizes and showering facilities, the safe garden and outside furniture for barbecue and eating. The kitchen is enormous and fully equipped. Everything has been considered from stairgates to a dedicated games room plus unfailing wifi. Hunstanton speaks for itself and is easily within walking distance. Nearer to the house we found two children's play areas that were easily accessible for them on foot for those times to let off steam nearby. The corner shop at the end of the road is a godsend for extra bits, though we arranged a Tesco delivery for the evening of our arrival without any problem. Parking nearby in the street for the cars that didn't fit in front of the house we had 4 was never a problem. Owners are accessible and caring.
Teresa
I suppose it depends what you want, as a family, from a holiday. If you don't do much cooking, and enjoy watching TV with 'surround sound' in each room, then this is the place for you. Our family dynamic however is different in the evenings we like to cook good locally sourced produce, and sit, chatting and eating 'en famille' in the kitchen. Unfortunately the house does not lend itself to this the facilities didn't work properly ovenBBQ and the undimmable overhead lighting in the kitchen was on a par with a second World War interrogation room. On a plus side the bathrooms were clean, the beds clean but some not very comfortable downside leaking taps and pipes, and the garden area and most of the house in desperate need of some TLC. Books and games for the children were appreciated. Decent beaches not quite as easily accessible as the description implies.
Michael
Overall great property in a good location. Everything is provided which is great but needs alot of tlc. Scuff marks on walls. Grouting in bathrooms etc. really loose patio slabs which where you step down.
Deborah
We had a wonderful time at Maples, it was perfect for our large family gathering which included 5 children ranging in age from 8 to 14 years. The house is clean, comfortable and very well equipped with lots of space to accomodate everyone. It is in a very good location just a quick 5 minute walk from the sea front and town of Hunstanton which has plentiful activities for all ages. The owners of they property were really helpful and the basket of goodies for our arrival was a lovely touch and very welcome. The only negative I could think of was the bathroom window in oriental bedroom didnt open and the bed made a bit of a noise when you turned over. However, these were very minor things and in no way detracted from our enjoyment of the property. It is the first time any of us had been Haunstanton and we all impressed with both the place and the house. Would definately recommend to others.
Thank you for helping us make such wonderful memories! We are a group of Mums with all our kids ages ranging from 7 10 and every year we have a Big House trip where we all hang out together, enjoy sharing big communal meals and we always go places with lots of local beaches to blow away the cobwebs and for the kids to enjoy the outdoors. This year did not disappoint!!! In fact we all agree it was the best yet!!! With the 2 lounges, the games room & the big kitchen table we were able to all be together and also have space to spread when we needed it! With that many children we need space! We especially liked that all the rooms had their own shower facilities, that we could access the back in our soggy and dirty beach stuff and use the utility room to get everything washed without sand ending up in our rooms, and that the house was really warm and cosy. After a day at the beach we made use of board games, quiet spaces to read, movies on in different rooms, and the pool table was a great hit! Kitchen facilities were great, especially the giant pots, dishwasher, and the all important coffee machine! Mum heaven! The locality was amazing. Walking into town was easy, and the beach at Old Hunstanton was gorgeous with many other classic Norfolk spots nearby such as Holkham, WellsnexttheSea, and Sandringham which has an awesome play area and you only pay for parking!. Unfortunately we didnt realise you need to book the oasis pool that has slides etc for fun, but instead we found a private hire pool which was reasonably priced and worth the value as we had it all to ourselves! We will definitely be back!!! Thanks
Heather
Comfort Bed in Field was very creaky and everytime you turned over it woke you up! No complaints about any other bed, I was in Oriental and loved it
Michaela
Your house is wonderful. Starting with the great location just a short walk away from the beach, town and pubs, but quiet and with a comfortable interior. The huge kitchen table is great focus for gamesmeals etc and the kitchen is fully equipped. Every room is spacious and well designed, I had a much better nights sleep than in my own bed! The games room is a huge bonus and with 10 adults, 2 babies and 2 dogs we have had the most fabulous family weekend without feeling squashed top of each other. Lovely to arrive to a hamper basket of goodies and communication has been speedy and very friendly. I really cannot recommend this house enough. Thank you so much, we have incredible memories that we will treasure.
Beverley
11 of us stayed for a weekend to celebrate my husbands birthday. The house was warm comfortable and had everything needed.my only issue was I contacted Sykes via email and phone with the way we wanted the beds made up but this obviously wasnt forwarded to the property owners. That aside I would recommend this property for a family gathering.
Rahmin
The house was nice and spacious, with all the necessary utilities provided. The games room was especially a hit with the kids. Great proximity to the beach and other attractions. The host was very helpful and quick to respond to any needs. Would definitely recommend and will go back again next summer.
